King Mo, 7-0, making his first defense of the Strikeforce light heavyweight title, is a better than 4-1 favorite over Cavalcante, 9-2.

Talk about a contrast in styles!

Lawal, an all-American wrestler at Oklahoma State, was successful on 33 of 37 takedown attempts in five of his fights (Mousasi W 5, Whitehead KO 1, Kerr KO 1, Kawamura W 3 and Wiuff KO 1) tracked by CompuStrike.  Of Lawal’s 58 averaged strikes landed per fight, 43 came from the ground.  That’s 74% of his offense.  Opponents did not attempt a single takedown.  Lawal was on the ground for nearly 36 of a possible 54 minutes in those five fights.

On the other hand, Cavalcante, nicknamed “Feijao” (bean(s) in Portuguese), landed an average of 22 strikes per fight (Britt KO 1, Kyle KO by 2, Galbraith KO 1, Cole KO 1 and Doyle KO 1), with 19 of those strikes landed occurring on the feet.  He landed ten leg strikes per fight, eight of which were knees.  Feijao attempted just three takedowns, hitting on two, while opponents were unsuccessful on their three attempted takedowns.  Opponents did not attempt a single ground strike, as Cavalcante was on the feet for 20 minutes of a possible 20:50.
