THE RUSSIAN PATRIARCHATE CHOIR OF MOSCOW was founded by Anatoly Grindenko in Trotse-Sergieva Lavra (near Moscow) in 1983. In 1985, by the blessing of the Metropolitan of Volokolamsk and Kolomna Pitirim, it was reorganized to become the choir of the Moscow Patriarchate's Publishing Department. At present it is a part of the Moscow Patriarchate's Synodic department for religious education and catechization. In the traditional manner, the choir consists of 12-14 members.
