Extended info
After many months in the making SYNTHETIC BREED’s new album has at last been unleashed on the enlightened and the uninitiated alike. PERPETUAL MOTION MACHINE, the pioneering Australian cyber-metal outfit’s second full length studio release, is a masterpiece in its entirety. Where its predecessor CATATONIC alluded to new sounds, grooves and rhythms, this new beast wholly overshadows the previous work. Each song is a revelation in itself, every song a mind numbing experience on the senses leaving no doubt that this band has finally achieved a musical zenith hitherto unattained. This perfect mix of cool songs, mad vocals, mind altering lyrics, crunching guitars and insane poly-rhythmic beats pressed onto a single perfectly presented CD makes this one a disc worth buying in this post – plastic era. PERPETUAL MOTION MACHINE does not just look mean and glossy with exacting artwork, but every song is just killer. SYNTHETIC BREED have always prided themselves on their ability to make the impossible look playable while just sounding groovy. Check out the live versions of SCOURGE and MOLECULAR SELF ASSEMBLY on YOUTUBE and be amazed at how tightly this music can be pulled off live. This has got to be one of the finest metal CDs Australia has ever produced and must be one of the albums of the year of 2010. Either that or it should win an award as being the most underrated album of all time. It’s sickening to think that a visionary band like SYNTHETIC BREED has had to go back to self production, just because their last distributors went broke. It’s commendable these guys have not given up but just keep hammering away and put their money where their mouths are.
