Oprichter Maurice White van Earth, Wind & Fire overleden

Maurice White (Memphis (Tennessee), 19 december 1941 – Los Angeles, 3 februari 2016) was een Amerikaans muzikant en producent. Hij was bekend als de oprichter en zanger van de band Earth, Wind & Fire.

Onder leiding van White werd Earth, Wind & Fire wereldberoemd met hits als Boogie Wonderland, Shining Star, September en After the Love has Gone. Hij was zowel zanger als schrijver en producer van zijn band. De band had een grote invloed op de popmuziek. Qua geluid varieerden ze van R&B en soul tot funk, disco en psychedelische uitspattingen.
