Myrath - Legacy
Always been curious about the meaning of the band name Myrath? Look at the album title and you have the answer. Legacy is dedicated to Ahmed Ben Arbia, the deceased father of founder / guitarist Malek. He was the manager and "Godfather" of Myrath. The fourth album is a tribute to all the victims all over the world and anyone who fights against all forms of violence and discrimination.
The cinematic intro Jasmin you get into the world of the Tunisian formation. The Arab-African-sounding melodies of flautist, violinist and singer Zaher Zorgatti (which are actually a mix of many cultures, including those of Andalusia, Berber and Gnawa) bring you directly into the local character. The beautiful violin parts are frequently present on this newcomer. The warm traditional music and Western melodic metal complement each other excellently. Compared with Tales From The Sands (2011), the material is more accessible and less metal-oriented and so is production. Jens Bogren the kebab metal, as he calls it, well mixed.

Legacy is another step forward for the group, which fifteen years ago under the name X-Tazy started as a cover band that includes Symphony X numbers. That influence can still be heard in the music, as well as System Of A Down, Disturbed, Europe and Muse. It is precisely the different cultural influences Myrath give a refreshing sound. The beautiful Nobody's Lives contains beautiful traditional singing, where the remaining songs mostly western vocals shots.

It often leads to memorable songs, such as the fantastic single Believer and Get Your Freedom Back , tracks that have an energetic and positive vibe. Although the music is pretty quick in the audience, there are many fine details provided, including a contribution of a choir, a bass solo, percussion plus frequent orchestral and cinematic passages that reinforce the character. Also Malek guitar solos deserve a compliment, like the strong riffs at the beginning of The Needle .

After the overwhelming start, the middle stage less captivating. That's how The unburnt fairly unnoticed. The rate goes down, the songs are more subdued and the elements of classic and progressive angle make their entry into the success I Want To Die and Tuat , which includes a strong climax. The concluding Storm Of Lies grabs back to the formula that makes it so memorable beginning of the record.

Legacy is a beautiful, warm and rich album with catchy tracks. Myrath manages to organically incorporate the different cultures in the beautiful compositions. The latest work is more melodic and less aggressive than its predecessor. Different, but no less level. The popularity of the Tunisians will undoubtedly grow there.
