Here’s a new historical drama on the block – and it comes from the people who created the world of Downton Abbey.
The upcoming British saga, set in 1619, follows the first English settlers as they set up a community in the New World.
Among those landing on the shores are a group of women who are destined to be married to the men of Jamestown – including three women from England.
As colonial Britain grows in the heart of what will become the United States, the residents will be subject to drama from the Native American Indian tribes – as their land has been stolen.
Jocelyn, Alice and Verity are among the 100 women who get shipped to the settlement twelve years after the men.
They are seen as the ‘property’ of their new husbands and treated incredibly badly.
However, they form an alliance and begin to fight back against the New World they’ve been forced to become a part of.
