“Elegy's music is a mix between power metal/progressive with classic hard rock influences. The musical dexterity of each member is beyond credibility. Elegy's music is not commercial and is not easy to get at first, but taste is developed slowly until it clicks. This is the type of good music that evolves over time.
Ian Parry's lyrics are well thought out, often expressing many metaphors and analogies. This album is the first featuring Patrick Rondat (ex-Jan Michel Jarre) on guitars. At first I was skeptical of Forbidden Fruit because departed original guitarist, Henk Van der Laars, had enormous talent. Dirk Bruinenberg at drums is phenomenal. To me, he is one of the top ranked drummers today, someone not to be overlooked (check him out with Adagio, Consortium Project and most recently with Patrick Rondat's solo band).
It's very regretful that Elegy is one of those bands that are not that well known. Maybe it's because of its management or music label, etc. But this CD truly rocks. It has more upbeat sound to it than its predecessor, Manifestation of Fear, which is also a tremendous effort. This band deserves more recognition! ”
