Zeezenders The Offshore Radio Years volume 10

Seeing the success of Radio Atlantis, Belgian Businessman Sylvain Tack decided to do something similar. Tack saw that having his own radio station, would be an ideal way of promoting his products. After experiencing difficulties with Radio Caroline, Mi Amigo decided to purchase their own ship – the MV Magdalena. Less than three months later the Magdelena ran aground during storms. The ship was boarded by police, impounded and ordered to be broken up.
Radio Delmare was set up by Gerard van Dam, who had been instrumental in Radio Caroline’s return in 1972. Unlike Radio Mi Amigo, Delmare didn’t have the backing of a millionaire, it did however have its share of technical problems and lost it’s first ship during storms. Another ship was found and the station returned. Soon after a mutiny by the crew, the radioship was taken into port and impounded.
