Post Description

voor de liefhebbers van decoders en de enigma van de duitsers in WO2 :)

Enigma Simulator v6.4

Runs on Windows? 98/ME/2000/XP/Vista/Win7 and with WINE on Linux or Parallels Desktop on MAC

This program is an exact simulation of the 3-rotor Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe Enigma, the 3-rotor Kriegsmarine M3, also called Funkschlussel M, and the famous 4-rotor Kriegmarine M4 Enigma cipher machine, used during World War II from 1939 until 1945. You can select between the three models, actually choose different rotors or 'Walzen', preset the rotor wiring positions or 'Ringstellung' and switch letters by using plugs or 'Stecker'. The internal wiring of all rotors is identical to those used by the Wehrmacht, Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine. This simulator is therefore fully compatible with the real Enigma-machine and you can decode original messages and make your own encoded text.

The program comes with a very complete helpfile, containing the manual, some original messages, the history of Enigma and all technical details of the machine. There's also a picture gallery, containing lots of detailed photos. With this program you will finally be able to work with the most intriguing milestone in military cryptology and examine how it works and how it was operated. A true reference to Enigma, and an educational must! On the bottom of this page you can find some screenshots, taken from the program. If you have more questions on Enigma, please visit my FAQ pages. Special thanks to Tom Perera from the Enigma Museum and Chris Valentine from KMi The Open University for the pictures in the gallery, and Frode Weierud for his advice, help with the translation and supplying the original message.

Dank aan Dirk Rijmenants & Movement :)
