Pink Funhouse Tour Live In Australia Remuxed (1080p) (2009)
Filmed in Australia in July 2009 this is a fantastic concert DVD and at almost 2 hours in length, theres a ton of material covered here. I've enjoyed Pink's music videos for years and recently saw her perform at the Grammy's on a trapeze. I was so blown away by her upside down, athletic singing that I just had to see more of her live, and thankfully the FUNHOUSE TOUR doesn't disappoint. At times intimate this is a fun, energetic and sexy show with all the major hits performed and some surprising cover-tunes as well.
Starting with Pink being lifted through a trap door she enters the Sydney arena center stage then proceeds to hang directly above it while her scratchy, amazing voice belts out the first of her many hits. The theme here is definitely over-the-top Cir De Soleil and Pinks first costume is a revealing ringmaster-esque design while her back up dancers resemble mimes and clowns. The stage is huge, colourful and exciting and Pink and her crew manage to use all of it and then some. As always she looks amazing (who has abs like this?) And because I generally watch music DVD's while I'm on the treadmill I find this to be either motivating or intimidating depending on my day.
For 22 songs the Fun (house) never stops even when Pink slows things down for a cozy campfire-ish acoustic set complete with piano and violin. She engages her audience, has the occasional pillow fight, dances, flirts with her sexy guitar player Justin Derrico and performs a sensual, eye-popping, Madonna inspired version of (I Touch Myself) complete with a velvet couch and random wandering hands. Pink never takes herself too seriously though and genuinely appears to be having a good time through several costume changes, great choreographed dance routines, extended versions of her hits and awesome covers from The Divinyls, Led Zeppelin, Queen, and Gnarls Barkley (which I loved)
Of course then we have her trapeze work which is spellbinding, physically demanding and a little scary as seen by the faces in the audience. At one point, from 25 feet up after some heavy breathing where you can't help but be aware that she isn't lip-syncing and that she's fearless and just maybe a little crazy, she lets go and falls, her partner catches her and she continues to sing. Wow.
Bonus features include "On tour with Pink" A behind the scenes look at a day in the life where Pink eats breakfast with husband Cory, does yoga, gets her hair done, has rehearsal, shows us her luggage and complains about how much weight she's gained while on a tour break (just like everyone else)"Shredding the Gnar" is a short, tongue in cheek, 70's inspired look at Justin Derrico playing super-awesome guitar solos with fast fingers and a tortured face. It's funny. Cheers!
