The concert portion was first released on the Fort Baxter release "If You Talk In Your Sleep" !
The first release of this concert was the audience recording "Down In The Alley".
Disc 1 is also released on "Magic Moments"!
This is a landmark release - Elvis was opening a new engagement in Las Vegas in August 1974 , and was tired of the repetitiousness of his normal song lineup. The rehearsal in Hollywood (where Elvis owned a house) laid down the "core" of the "new" concert that Elvis had in mind. The rehearsal was captured on a personal tape recorder , and the tape shows that Elvis was working hard to crystalize the concert he wanted to bring to the stage. RCA recorded the opening show in it's entirety , and this double cd release is the first (and so far, only) time both a rehearsal and a respective concert are presented as a single release.
This is arguably the best sounding version of this concert , being digitally remixed from the master tape !
Released in a unique cardboard foldout - features stunning pictures and great text about the two important events. Arguably the most attractive and professional CD release as yet (to include official releases).
Concert: The show was fantastic, every song was treated with great passion but unfortunately the crowd wanted the same show format they had witnessed countless times before. So the reaction from the audience was reserved. They wanted the old hits back and not a selection of newer - pretty unknown - songs. Pitty !!" (Source: Elvisoncd.com)
