Mariotte (Q 74) was a one-off single-hulled submarine authorized under the 1906 building program. Designed by Radiguer, Mariotte was similar to the Émeraude class. Mariotte was built at the Arsenal de Cherbourg and launched on 2 February 1911.

During builder&#146;s trials Mariotte was able to attain a high submerged speed but results from the trials had all but two of her buoyancy tanks moved forward to improve sea-keeping. She was commissioned in 1913 and at the start of World War I she was stationed in the Mediterranean. Mariotte joined the French submarine squadron operating in the Dardanelles and was sunk by Turkish shore batteries on 27 July 1915 when became caught in anti-submarine nets when attempting to navigate through the Passage into the Black Sea. Today her wreck can still be seen in the shallow waters off of Nara Point.

Range: 1,050 nautical miles @ 10 knots surfaced, 100 nautical miles @ 5 knots submerged.

Armament: 4-450mm (17.7in) torpedo tubes &#150; 2-450mm torpedoes (Dzewiecki drop-collars) total 8 torpedoes
