“I don’t know how else to approach The Boxer Rebellion for your edification or discovery other than to say that you need to check them out musically via Last FM, MySpace, or even their own website (wjhere they are providing a free download of an alternate version of their “Semi-Automatic” song from last year’s (2009) excellent Union album. Regardless, the news here is that The Boxer Rebellion is planning the release of their latest album in 2011. The Cold Still, the name of their new album, will be a ten-track work and is set to be released in the UK and the rest of Europe on February 7, while the US release follows closely on February 8.
Some of you may have seen a film with Drew Barrymore called Going The Distance where the band played in scenes as themselves. If you’ve seen the film, you might have asked yourself who the band was, or otherwise made a mental note to check them out, or something like that. And you may have forgotten, both the movie and the band. I couldn’t blame you for the movie but the band is important.
The Cold Still is being released on the band’s own label, Absentee Recordings. They have several albums to go back to after you have decided that you like this UK-based band. I hope that you’ll do yourself a favour and check them out. I’m betting that you’ll be glad that you did.”
