Als groot Queenfan/collector heb ik het idee om mijn complete audio en video Live-collectie te gaan posten op het usenet.
Ik heb dit in het verleden ook al gedaan voor queenfans op www.queenzone.com en wil nu dit wat verder uit gaan breiden om met deze opnamen ook een groter publiek te bereiken.
Je zou toch maar bijvoorbeeld naar de Leidse groenoordhallen zijn geweest om in 1982 een Queenconcert te bezoeken.... Hier zijn dus opnamen van :-)

Ik gebruik zoveel mogelijk de bijgevoegde info-file als beschrijving hier en waar mogelijk een afbeelding van de (bootleg)hoes.
Als website-link gebruik ik steeds de desbetreffende post op Queenzone waar de opname gedeeld is en besproken is.
Van sommige opnamen zal ik meerdere opnamen posten. Download ze en vergelijk zelf de kwaliteit. Ik ga geen advies geven wat de beste opname is. Meestal zijn het opnamen die gemaakt zijn uit het publiek; verwacht dus geen superkwaliteit. Er is gewoon geen betere kwaliteit.

Het zal ongetwijfeld lang duren voor alle concerten gepost zijn (naar schatting ben ik hier wel enkele maanden mee bezig), maar uiteindelijk zal alles er op komen te staan.

Another fantastic show ! 
Rosemary Horide : "What a night! It was a finale of the big Queen tour 
throughout the whole country. It was the conclusive evening for their 
reputation. Their lift was meteorical. So many people had challenged if Queen 
had the authority to play in such a prestigious place as the Rainbow. Freddie 
appeared in his new specially eccentric white "eagle's" costume, bouncing and 
miming with even bigger ecstasy than ever and sang even better than any time 
before. One couldn't believe it's the first time of Queen appearing themselves 
in such an important place. After a while they got used to taking advantage of
the big stage. After two encores they left the stage during a big applause of 
the audience."

Roger Taylor's energetic Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll is played at this show. 
While the studio version had Roger doing the lead vocal, Freddie would sing it 
in concert. The vocal line had to be rearranged as his vocal range is not 
nearly as high as Roger's. The song would be performed often over the next few 
years.

In the early 70s, metal and glam were two completely separate entities, but 
Queen united them with songs like Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll and Stone Cold 
Crazy. The band would come to be a major influence on stadium rock as well as 
on metal's progression through the 80s.

During Liar, Brian breaks a string around the breakdown (when Freddie sings 
"Listen!"). He unplugs and switches to a Fender Stratocaster (he didn't have 
a Red Special copies in the early days). His tone is much different from this 
point onward.

Ten minutes of professional video footage exist from this show (only Son And
Daughter and Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll). Some of Son And Daughter was
broadcast in or around 2000 on a Swedish TV programe called "Kvällstoppen",
and a few seconds of Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll were seen in the 2002 "When
Freddie Met Kenny" (Everett, radio DJ) documentary. Both were in great quality.
Also a few parts of Son And Daughter and Modern Times Rock'n'Roll were shown
(in widescreen) in a trailer for the BBC documentary "Seven Ages Of Rock".
Does anybody know how much other footage is circulating ?

Most of this recording comes from a pre-LP copy in superb quality, rendering 
all previous versions to be obsolete. Some gaps between songs, as well as the 
beginnings of Procession and Liar, are filled in with a tape transfer of 
"High Voltage" LP, which is simply a re-release of "Master of Sheetkeeckers",
which was the very first Queen bootleg ever produced, released in the US in
February 1975.

This soundboard recording (multi-track, to be precise, since it certainly has 
been properly mixed) contains numerous vocal overdubs. The most glaring example
of this is 3 minutes into Liar, when Freddie sings "time after time", and the 
next line begins before the previous one has ended. Another nice example is 
when Freddie sings "Watch out" at the beginning of Son And Daughter - he can be
clearly seen on the video that he's gone away from the microphone, but you can
still hear him singing ;-) Keeping the overdubs in mind, the fact that it's 
perfectly mixed, the between-song segments having been edited, and that it's 
37 minutes long, I'd like to suggest the possibility that this may have once 
been considered to be a live album by the band and ultimately shelved. 

The interesting thing is that old Queen expert John S. Stuart wrote on 
Queenzone.com forum that a complete 2 LP set does exist, it's framed in Barry
Sheffield's office and the tracklist is Procession, Father To Son, Ogre Battle,
White Queen, Great King Rat, Hangman, Doing Alright, Son and Daughter, Keep 
Yourself Alive, Seven Seas Of Rhye, Liar, Jailhouse Rock / Shake Rattle & Roll 
/ Stupid Cupid / Jailhouse Rock (reprise), Big Spender / Modern Times 
Rock'n'Roll .

Does anybody know how accurate this information is ?

There were some edits on this pre-LP source. So I have added the beginnings of
Procession, Liar and the ending of the concert from the LP source, and "What 
comes next" from the video.

A huge inspiration for me for creating this was a merge done by SirGH from
www.QueenLive.ca . However he used hard cuts when he changed the sources, which
I didn't like. So the main difference between his version and mine is that I've
used crossfades instead of hard cuts.
