 The WAR File - The Holocaust - Dachau & Sachsenhausen - A Record of the Nazi Atrocities - 1933 - 1945 -

WARNING - This Historical Documentary contains scenes of a violent and disturbing nature

Whilst Hitler sought the answers to his "Jewish problem" more and more centres of containment sprung up throughout Nazi occupied Europe. Two such camps were Dachau and Sachsenhausen, and although perhaps not such recognisable names as Auschwitz, they were no less crucial in the persecution and extermination of the European Jews.

Under the watchful eye of Heinrich Himmler, head of the SS and Hitler's right hand man, a series of containment, transit and death camps were built within Europe, to systematically cleanse all those people considered inferior by the Third Reich.

With the liberation of these two camps in April 1945, the true extent of man's cruelty to his fellow man would be revealed; the untold dead, inhumane treatment and squalid conditions would be laid bare for the entire world to see.

Dachau was one of the worst and most notorious death camps and the scene of hundreds of medical experiments carried out on inmates. Initially filled with Communist and Jewish inmates, Dachau's doors were soon opened to the many other "undesirables" that the Nazis anted to eradicate.

Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp was one of the first unofficial concentration camps established by the SA in 1933.

The administration of the concentration camps was instituted in Sachsenhausen, a district of Oranienburg since 1936. The town was home to one of the largest concentration camps in the German Reich.

The construction of the camp, the day-to-day life in it, and the suffering of the 20,000 prisoners from many countries are the subjects of this film.
