Post Description

John Lennon quit in the fall of 1969 as Abbey Road was coming out (telling Paul McCartney "I think you"re daft" when they met to discuss future projects), but didn"t declare it openly; Allen Klein was renegotiating their record contract, and it would have hurt their bargaining position. Paul McCartney announced his departure in April 1970, as he released his first solo album... and after their contract was renegotiated.
Most people remember McCartney as "quitting first"; he admitted years later that Lennon was the first to go. Lennon was bitter about McCartney"s announcement: "I was a fool not to do what Paul did, which was use it to sell a record." McCartney also hated the changes Phil Spector made to "The Long And Winding Road", but could not stop the Spector version"s release.
In December 1970 McCartney began legal proceedings to officially dissolve the Beatles as a legal entity. (He said later "I felt like an arse, suing my best mates and being seen to sue my best mates.") Their partnership was not legally dissolved until 1975.
The Beatles hit international fame in 1962, and officially disbanded in April , 1970. The Beatles had had a meteoric ride to international super-stardom in a short space of time. The touring schedule had taken its toll and the did their last ever concert in August, 1966, but the demands of writing and recording new material still existed. They were on average, in their mid-twenties and trying to live their lives, but were so well known, they could not step out in public due to "Beatlemania". In the end, it was put down to irreconcilable differences between the band members.
In April 1970 Paul McCartney announced to the world that the Beatles were breaking up (and he released a solo album). In December of that year he started legal proceedings. He wasn"t the first to decide to break up, however no one else said it publicly until he did. The band was legally dissolved in 1975. It was in 1971.

The death of the band itself is up to debate. some say it was because of Yoko Ono, John Lennon"s wife but most think that they were just getting bored with each other. They had worked together for over 10 years so its understandable.
If you meant the Beatles as people, only two of them are deceased. John was assassinated in December 1980 and George died in November 2001. Ringo and Paul are still alive and rocking it.
