Phase 1- setting up PC and backup
? Install the Samsung USB drivers
? Unzip the main firmware file I9100XXKP8_I9100OXAKP8.rar and you will see these files
1. u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit,
2. Odin3 v1.83.exe,
3. MODEM_I9100XXKP8_REV_02_CL1092599.tar.md5,
4. I9100_KERNEL_I9100XXKP8_CL42141_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5
5. I9100_EFS_I9100XXKP8_CL42141_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5
6. I9100_CODE_I9100XXKP8_CL42141_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5
7. GT-I9100-MULTI-CSC-OXAKP8.tar.md5
? Take Backup of your contacts messages and other data from your phone. Please note that this
procedure doesn`t format your internal memory, only messages, contacts and apps will be erased.
? Shut down Samsung Kies completely
? Run Odin which you have already installed
? Power off your Galaxy S2 and wait till one vibrate comes to ensure complete switch off
Phase 2 - Upgrading the firmware
? Hold Volume down key+ Home button key and press power on, now you will see this screen,
accept it
? Connect your phone with USB cable and run ODIN
? You should get the message "Added! !" under the Odin's message box in the bottom left.
? Check only Auto reboot & F. Reset time in option
? Put the files like this in Odin:
PIT = u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit,
PDA = I9100_CODE_I9100XXKP8_CL42141_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5,
PHONE = MODEM_I9100XXKP8_REV_02_CL1092599.tar.md5,

? Hit the start button and process will begin
? Wait until your phone gets restart and then unplug the cable
That it you will have Android 4.0.3 Ice cream Sandwich on your Phone.
