VANDERHOOF was formed in 1997 with the 5 original members... Kurdt Vanderhoof (Metal Church guitarist), Kirk Arrington, Damon Albright, Brian Cokeley and Dave Hawkes. The concept was to bring real rock back to the forefront, a means to provide an alternative to the un-skilled, un-melodic releases that were currently out.
VANDERHOOF secured a contract with SPV Germany and released their self-titled debut album in 1997, and subsequently thundered across Europe with Savatage on the "Disco Still Sucks" tour, garnering praise, critical acclaim, and winning over even the most hardcore metalheads along the way.
