Midget Submarines of the Second World War (1999)
Paul Kemp
pdf

Synopsis
A guide to the developmental history of the midget submarines employed during the Second World War, in the SHIPSHAPE series. The book covers the British Chariot and X-Craft, the Italian Maiale, the Japanese Ko-Hyoteki, the German Neger, and the Japanese Kaiten, and their derivatives...

With an excellent layout, the history is well told over five chapters, always with the precious graphic help (one picture is worth a thousand words!!).
Covering almost all operational crafts on both sides (Allies and Axis), Paul give us the necessary info, either you are an Amateur Historian, Modeller or just a WWII buff.
Same crafts received more attention than others:
the British Chariot, the Italian CB Class or the amazing British X-Craft. The neglected one's are the IJN Koryu, Kairyu and Kaiten I and II, the German Molch and Hecht, with very little info given to the reader.
On the final chapter of the book, after-war projects are mentioned, like the US X-1.
