JIM CROCE
Final Show - Louisiana 1973 [no label, 1CD]
Live at Northwestern State University,
Natchitoches, Louisiana
September 20, 1973.
Fair to good audience recording.
Including artwork.
Art from jimcrocefans.com - Thanks!
It’s a short set and the more notable tracks such as Time In A Bottle, I’ll Have To Say I Love You In A Song, You Don’t Mess Around With Jim or It Doesn’t Have to Be That Way were not performed. But if you are a Jim Croce fan, this is a must-have.
Thanks to Mike who shared this on the net in 2007.
Uploader’s notes:
Here is a REAL Treat for all you Jim Croce Fans… This is THE LASTShow Jim performed before his untimely death in 1973. This is an audience recording and very good for its time. This recording I obtained many years ago thru the art of snail mail, back in the days before torrents were born. I believe this is 2nd generation from the master cassette tape.
The story goes as thus:
This CD contains the final moments of the legendary Jim Croce and his lead guitarist, Maury Muehleisen. Only 15 minutes after this concert ended, they were both killed when their charted plane crashed during take-off from the Natchitoches, LA airport. The four others aboard the aircraft were also killed and the names are unkown to me. Jim and Maury had just given a great show on the campus of Northwestern State Unversity in Natchitoches, Louisiana. They had been well received by almost 2000 fans. This show was taped on a hand-held cassette recorder by two young women in the 3rdrow…
[The plane crashed about an hour after the end of the concert… The others killed in the crash were charter pilot Robert N. Elliott, comedian George Stevens, manager and booking agent Kenneth D. Cortose, and road manager Dennis Rast. - wikipedia]
Including the final photo of Jim Croce and his guitarist, sitting in the actual plane that night. They took off 15 minutes after this photo was taken. Thanks to Ernie Clark who sent in the picture.
