kerrylives notes:
Let me first say it was a lot of work to create this DVD, but I enjoyed doing it. I used our own film as the first source to work from, since we had the whole show covered.
It was shot right in front of the stage by my brother. We had seats on the far side of the stage.
We managed to get all our equipment (including a huge tripod) past security, but were caught later on inside the venue before the show started.
For some reason however they didn't notice the camcorder.
We had plenty of time to build an improvised tripod from material scattered throughout the Amsterdam ArenA.
So we could make use of the camera's 70x optical zoom without too much shake.
Where needed I mixed in quite a lot HD clips from Youtube uploaded by other filmers (well over a hundred).
All credits for the additional material used in this DVD goes to them: Interference74, U2006.com and many others. Thank you, very, very much!
My objective while working on this project was mainly to create a film of the entire concert that would fit on a single DVD.
Also I wanted it to contain as much as possible steady shot material, so it would be fun to watch multiple times.
I didn't want to make it high definition, but it should be fine to watch on a regular SD widescreen television.
In the end I used over a dozen camera angles in the final version. The second Amsterdam show was clearly the better one of the two.
Not only did we get three songs making their tour debut (Bad, Until The End Of The World & Elevation), but both the band and the audience were on fire.
(Bono even makes mention of this after Elevation.) So after two weeks of editing, synchronizing and rendering over a hundred clips it is finally here:
my multicam version of an awesome show!
