“An unexpected blast of energy here from newcomers Sinbreed, a band composed of unlikely players that have edged the metal scene without making too permanent a mark. Surrounding the talents of guitarist Flo Laurin, we have Seventh Avenue vocalist Herbie Langhans, bassist Alexander Schulz, and current Blind Guardian drummer Frederik Ehmke, and boy do these guys know how to make a record. Sinbreed play the kind of Power Metal that makes you want to windmill from the word go, and coming across like a less technical Hibria, a more melodic Running Wild, and a younger Gamma Ray, the band's sparkling debut When Worlds Collide will have you doing just that. So get that neck brace on stand by, folks.

With a hard, clear production courtesy of Markus Teske, When Worlds Collide doesn't give the listener time to breathe. It comes down like a hammer with five heads, all bashing you at once and forcing you down. Langhans sounds amazing here – much better than he has on any Seventh Avenue release – and Laurin himself rips off some scorching riffs and melodies, some of them just too great to comprehend. There is not a moment wasted, and every song is a winner, with tracks like the fast, pelting "Book of Life", the stomping "Enemy Lines", and the blinding "Dust To Dust" just oozing charisma and charm, poise and grace. The music is heavy and powerful, but retains the lusty embrace that Power Metal can often have, keeping you singing along well after it ends.

With some of the best and most convincing Power Metal inventions I've heard in recent years, When Worlds Collide is a must for anyone interested in the style, and I pray to what ever god is listening that this won't be the last we hear of Sinbreed. I'm off for another spin.
