May 2010 - WinCC flexible 2008 SP2 
With the Service Pack 2 for WinCC flexible 2008, some functional expansions in the engineering as well as the runtime were incorporated. 
Besides the support of additional display sizes and communication channels, innovations concerning SmartAccess and SmartService as well as enhancements in the Basic Panelks were made. 
Furthermore, the operating system Windows 7 will also be supported beginning with WinCC flexible 2008 SP2.

The Innovations in detail:

Engineering and usability
- Menü Project
WinCC flexible saves the most recently opened projects in a list. You can clear the list of most recently opened projects using the "Project" menu.
-Object view shows additional information
The tag comments as well as unique recipe numbers are listed in the object view.
- Additional wide screen resolutions available for WinCC flexible Runtime
1440 x 900 , 1680 x 1050, 1920 x 1080 and 1920 x 1200 pixels

Functional enhancements regarding communication
- Modicon Modbus TCP/IP  for PN Basic Panels
- Mitsubishi FX for KTP600 Basic DP, KTP1000 Basic DP, OP77A, TP 177A
- Omron Hostlink/Multilink for KTP600 Basic DP, KTP1000 Basic DP, OP77A, TP 177A

Innovations concerning SmartAccess and SmartService
- Performance improvements due to reduced CPU utilization by SmartServer
- As of SP2 of WinCC flexible 2008, automatic scaling of the display on the SmartServer is supported.The display of the server desktop will be adapted to the SmartClient by the SmartServer without distortion. In case of differing display size and aspect ratio the image will be minimized and blank space will be filled with black bars. Automatic scaling will transmit the image of the server desktop in an optimized, reduced resolution to the client
-For WinCC flexible 2008 SP2 new functions have been added to existing functions  of SmartServer and SmartClient. The layout of the configuration dialogs has been revised to improve usability. The settings are now grouped according to their functions in the respective tabs.

New HMI-devices and supported functions
- Mobile Panel 277F IWLAN (RFID Tag) - (RFID Tag). Instead of an effective range module, the Mobile Panel 277F IWLAN (RFID Tag) comes equipped with an RFID module. The RFID module meets ISO 5693 quality standards.
-Mobile Panel 277 IWLAN V2 and Mobile Panel 277F IWLAN V2 with SIMOTION support, Rapid Roaming iPCF-MC and Transponder V2

Enhancements in the Basic Panels
- The content of the internal message buffer will remain intact even after restart of the HMI device
- Support of additional system functions SetBitInTag /ResetBitInTag/ InvertBitInTag
- Expanded quantity framework
Number of tags in the project KTP400 Basic 128->250, KTP600 Basic, KTP 100 Basic and TP 1500 Basic 256 ->500
