The World's Warships 1941
Since the first issue of THE WORLD'S WARSHIPS was prepared by the late Fred T. Jane in 1915, it has passed through frequent fresh editions, but has altered its form but little. With a first-class naval war in progress, there is a constant demand for an up-to-date summary of the world's war fleets in a compact form. To meet this, a complete revision of the book's contents has been undertaken. This has been anything but a simple task, owing to the complications presented by casualties and the difficulty of obtaining details of new ships. In the following pages every effective warship in existence will be found listed, including those authorised or under construction, together with the date of launch or laying down, displacement, designed speed, armament and aircraft equipment. Oilers, transports and other auxiliaries possessing no fighting value have in the main been excluded. In the national interest, particulars of British ships laid down under War programmes cannot be given, but a list of all war losses is given as an appendix.
