Post Description
Nave - Nave
NAVE is a Brazilian symphonic group that was founded in 1993. The original line-up consisted of Roger Troyjo (vocals), Marcos Vita (keyboards & vocals), Estevao Kalaany (acoustic & electric guitars, viola caipira), Benigno Jr. (bass) and Ricardo de Alcantara (drums & percussion). They belong to the new generation of Brazilian progressive movement. Some of the musical passages create an assumption that the group is influenced by YES and Brazilian acts of the 70s(prog & non-prog).
Their first album was released in 1997. It's basically a symphonic progressive work with influences from world music and progressive metal. The Brazilian background can be heard in some tracks but overall the sound of the group is rather universal. The vocals, that are somewhat reminiscent of Jon Anderson, are in English and delivered convincingly. This is a varied and mature album.
Their second album released in 2007 contains much more influence of the original Brazilian background. It goes mainly in the lines of crossover prog.
The music of NAVE probably mostly pleases fans of symphonic progressive that don't mind influences from a few other genres thrown in as well.
Studio Album, released in 1997
